August Intake

Key Information

  • Duration: 5-day training block

  • Theory: Monday to Thursday, Forrestdale

  • Practical: Friday, Local site (TBC)

  • Workplace Requirement: 150 hours of supervised work around powerlines (Western Power requirement)

  • Places Available: Limited to 12 participants (8 places currently remain)

  • Completed ESI Booking Form

  • Confirmation of Chainsaw Qualification (Statement of Attainment or USI Transcript, where applicable)

  • Preferred Stream Selection (Safety Observer or EWP)

Funding may be available through a traineeship (subject to eligibility). Please contact your AASN to confirm funding options.

AHC30824 Certificate III in Arboriculture - WHS Induction

Monday 7th - Wednesday 9th September 2026

Includes:

  • WHS Induction

  • FWPCOT2254 Maintain Chainsaws

  • FWPCOT2273 Trim and Cut Felled Trees

    Following Training Days:

  • Tuesday 7th June: FWPHAR2208 Operate a mobile chipper/mulcher

  • Wednesday 8th June: FWPCOT3301 Trim trees using a pole saw

    ​Available Streams:

  • Climbing

  • EWP

  • Dual Climbing/EWP

  • Works Coordinator

    Duration: 18–24 months, with off‑the‑job training scheduled for 1–3 days every 6–8 weeks.

    Funding: This qualification is funded as a WA Apprenticeship, which may significantly reduce overall costs.
    Additional employer incentives may apply, as Arborists remain on the national skills shortage list.

  • Location: Theory at Forrestdale; practical sites within Metro Perth

  • Fees: $7,950 per person (contact Sasha Gajic – MEGT at 0404 824 641 for traineeship/subsidy options)

Diploma in Arboriculture AHC50524

Online

Currently taking expressions of interest for the next intake.  This course will be delivered online via Microsoft Teams, where participants from across Australia attend a ½ day training session on a monthly basis.

To commence in the Diploma of Arboriculture (AHC50524), participants must have gained competency in the following units, or their equivalent:

  • Implement a tree maintenance program (AHCARB314)

  • Perform pruning operations (AHCARB316)

  • Identify trees (AHCARB323)

The Diploma of Arboriculture (AHC50524) is usually completed within 18 months.
