WALGA - Model Local Planning Policy Tree Retention

As of August 2026, eleven Local Governments have adopted a Tree Retention Policy based on, or incorporating elements of, WALGA's model policy.​

Other Local Governments progressing a Tree Retention Policy:

  • Town of Clarmont have advertised a draft LPP,  but are awaiting the WALGA revised Model LPP before progressing further. 

  • City of Gosnells have advertised a draft LPP,  and are compiling responses before bringing a report and final policy to Council for adoption.

  • City of Melville recently endorsed a draft LPP for advertising, but have not began the consultation as of yet.

  • City of Perth have advertised a draft LPP, and are compiling responses before bringing a report and final policy to Council for adoption

  • City of Vincent have resolved to proceed with a Scheme Amendment prior to progressing a Tree Retention LPP.​
