With the WA Tree Climbing Championships just around the corner on October 3rd and 4th, now is the perfect time for climbing arborists and competitors to ensure their gear is not only complete but fully up to date and in top condition.

Tree climbing is as much about technical precision and physical strength as it is about safety and preparation. Whether you’re a seasoned competitor or a novice climber, the reliability of your equipment can be the difference between a thrilling climb and a serious safety risk.

From ropes and harnesses to helmets, footwear, and PPE — every piece of gear must be checked before a climb. Regular checks are essential not just for competitions, but for the longevity and safety of your equipment in everyday use.
Tree climbers that are competing in the Championships are of course required to attend gear check before the competition starts.
Finding the Right Equipment for Climbing
In order to perform any tree work safely and efficiently, arborists need to make sure they have the right machinery and equipment.
Coastline Mowers, who is sponsoring the WA State Tree Climbing Championships main event, the Coastline Mowers Masters Event, has the answer.
They have been serving arborists for 20 plus years in and around the Rockingham and Perth Area. They also have a spare parts and workshop division that help with any work needed.
“We specialise in the sale and service of Stihl equipment with a huge range of battery operated, as well as the traditional fuel operated machines,” says Tim Stuart, Store Manager at Coastline Mowers (pictured).
“We have also recently added a large range of arborist climbing and safety gear to our ever growing range of equipment,” he says. “This includes brands like Notch, Marlow Ropes, SIP Protection, JAMA, ISC, At Height UK, Petzl, Protos, Teufelberger plus many more.”
