Diverse tree planting

With the ever-present threat of Polyphagous Shot Hole Borer (PSHB), and the avenues of closely planted, maturing trees, the spread of the borer from one tree to another is of real concern. Diversity in planting is a necessity today, as is the correct tree selection.

"We are investing more time today in growing the trees in-ground to allow natural root formation. We are growing tomorrow’s tree today, which is why it's important to be part of the ArbWest network, to support the industry as a whole." said Craig Woodroffe from Ellenby Tree Farm (pictured below).

Ellenby Tree Farm are actively promoting the preservation of existing trees through correct maintenance which helps protect the urban canopy.  They also promote expanding the amount of canopy coverage in the metro and regional areas through correct species selection to suit soil types and via selling well grown stock for these applications.
